MLB FanDuel Gut Feeling 7/10

Last night was a rough night for my team, didn’t get a lot of help from my hitting but did have a big night from David Price.  I’m going to see if I can move on in the FanDuel Survivor Pool tonight with this lineup.  Follow me on twitter @BLB_85 for any last minute switches due to weather or scratches.  Here is my lineup for tonight’s game:

Pitcher: Gerrit Cole $10,600
The Pirates have a huge home series against the Cardinals this weekend and these are the type of series where you need your top pitchers to carry the load.  Cole has pitched very well recently except for a start against the Reds at the end of June.  After a tough loss to the Cardinals last night I believe the Pirates will even the series up tonight.

Catcher: Matt Wieters $2,800
Wieters has struggled at the plate in July but when the O’s and Nats get together it’s normally a hitter friendly series.  If Wieters is in the lineup tonight (which he should be since the Orioles were off yesterday) he could be in line for a good game.

First Baseman: Joey Votto $3,400
Votto has been re-capturing his hitting stroke the past few days after a slump that lasted a couple of weeks.  Marlins pitcher David Phelps hasn’t been untouchable so Votto should continue the positive trend he’s on.

Second Baseman: Brian Dozier $4,000
The Twins are one of the best home teams in MLB and face a struggling Justin Verlander tonight.  Dozier sets the table for the Twins offense and this should be a good night for them.  Last night’s 0-4 against Price doesn’t scare me off of this pick.

Third Baseman: Pablo Sandoval $2,300
Sandoval has struggled this season but I feel tonight will be a good night.  Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda has 105 strikeouts in 99 innings pitched but he has also surrendered 108 hits.  Tonight is set up to be a slump busting type of night which makes Sandoval my Ultimate Gut Call.

Shortstop: Xander Bogaerts $3,000
Bogaerts has continued his July streak of hits and going against Pineda at home it should be a safe bet that a good game is in store.

Outfielder: Michael Brantley $3,200
Coming off of a very productive series against Houston, Brantley now faces an Oakland staff that doesn’t pitch well on the road.  I like Brantley’s chances tonight against Graveman.

Outfielder: Jarrod Dyson $2,900
Dyson is a very talented outfielder for the Royals who will get some extended playing time due to the Alex Gordon injury.  He shined in the series against the Rays and should benefit again this weekend facing a Blue Jays team that’s almost always in a shootout type game.

Outfielder: Michael Taylor $2,400
Another young outfielder seeing extending due to injuries in the Nats outfielder, he has a favorable matchup against Chris Tillman and the Orioles.  Taylor is in good position to have his first multi-hit game since June 28th.

Confidence Level: 4 out of 5
A lot of players in position to continue their hot hitting or break out of slumps.  Good luck everyone!
