MLB Fanduel Lineup Advice 4/21

Well, if you didn’t have Desclafani or Simon yesterday pitching for your squad you probably had a rough day. This is going to be a short analysis, as Tuesdays are my busiest days at university. But as always, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @FantasyRam with any lineup questions you may have, I can answer them during work!

Pitchers

Jon Niese, NYM – $8,100

In another day with no clear aces to plug into your lineups, I think Jon Niese is a sneaky “Tier 2” pitcher that can be a solid play tonight. He matches up with the surprising, yet light-hitting Atlanta Braves which is definitely favorable. Also, the Braves don’t have a world-killer on the mound for them (Trevor Cahill) so the win potential definitely exists for Niese. The Mets are the hottest team in baseball right now, so why not ride their fire? The New York southpaw may not get you a ton of strikeouts, but expect a quality start from him (6IP +, 3ER or fewer) and hopefully that nice four point win.

Gio Gonzalez, WSH – $8,900

If you’re looking to spend a little more cash on your starter, I like Gio against a lefty-dominant Cardinals lineup tonight. While Mark Reynolds will probably slot in for Matt Adams, St. Louis still has many lefty bats such as Carpenter, Heyward, Jay, and Kolten Wong. The power-throwing lefty is always a good bet for a healthy amount of strikeouts, and the win potential is always there with that potent Nationals lineup. Get Gio in your GPP lineups for sure and cash lineups if you’re feeling bold for this potential NLCS matchup.

Buster Posey, C, SF – $4,000

Pretty obvious selection here, as Posey has established himself as one of the best (fantasy) catchers in the league. The matchup with uninspiring southpaw Brett Anderson is just gravy. Tonight is definitely the night to pay up for your catcher, and I think you can find $200 extra somewhere to have the Giants backstop over Wilin Rosario.

Joc Pederson, OF, LAD – $3,500

Natural batter over pitcher matchups are what I first look for when trying to fit players around my stack of the day. Joc Pederson has been off to an impressive start for the Dodgers in his inaugural season, and he gets to square off tonight against the erratic Tim Lincecum. I like the Dodgers stack quite a bit tonight, but if you’re looking for a cheap, singular play from LA, give Joc the Ripper a look.
