MLB FanDuel Lineup Advice 4/22

I got back to my winning ways last night after a quick hiccup on Monday, which was nice! CarGo was unfortunately garbage against pedestrian Brandon Morrow in Coors Field, but my picks of Jon Niese and Carlos Santana really came through for me. Let’s hop into Wednesday’s slate, with plenty of aces to start building your lineup around.

Pitchers

David Price, DET – $11,400

The Tigers southpaw has some pretty good career numbers against most of the hitters in the Yankees lineup, with the exception of Jacoby Ellsbury and Brian McCann. As you all are well aware, Price is always a double digit strikeout threat, and I think he could reach that number tonight. One also has to love the win potential that comes with Price, as that insane Tigers lineup is going up against the rather unimpressive Adam Warren tonight. Price is definitely the number one option at pitcher tonight, so try to work him into your lineups!

Yovani Gallardo, TEX – $7,600

If you’re looking for a cheaper option tonight at pitcher, the Rangers’ Yovani Gallardo might be your guy. Right-hander Nick Martinez looked very strong against the D-Backs last night, throwing six innings of one run ball. I think Gallardo has the potential to match or even one-up Martinez’s performance from last night. The former Brewer can get plentiful swings and misses when his pitches are working, so that’s definitely reassuring from a DFS perspective. Aside from the always-formidable Paul Goldschmidt, the Arizona lineup is rather unimpressive. Rookie Archie Bradley is on the hill for the Diamondbacks, so he could have some mental lapses and give up a couple runs to help Gallardo get the win. There’s quite a bit of risk here, but if you’re feeling lucky, Gallardo is one of the best cheap options out there!

Jered Weaver, LAA – $8,200

Related Articles

Another deep sleeper tonight is Jered Weaver of the Angels with a matchup against divison foe Oakland. The veteran right-hander has been roughed up so far this season, with an 0-2 record and a 6.61 ERA, but he has been playing some great offenses. I wouldn’t consider Oakland “a great offense” as Hector Santiago shut them down last night (6 IP, 1 ER, 8 Ks). The win potential is there with Calhoun, Trout, and Pujols at the top of that Angels lineup, and maybe this is the start Weaver needs to reestablish himself as the ace in Los Angeles.

Hitters

Edwin Encarnacion, 1B, TOR – $4,000

I think EE is under-priced at the moment, and his two homer game last night could be the spark he needs to get things on track after a slow start to 2015. He’s going up against a pitcher in Ubaldo Jimenez, while his numbers have been good thus far, who is due for some serious regression. Playing at Rogers Centre is a definite plus and if you missed out on the Blue Jays offensive explosion last night, tonight might be a good night to hop on board if you can afford it with your starting pitcher.

Will Middlebrooks, 3B, SD – $3,700

If you don’t want to go with the full Padres stack tonight, one cheap-ish option you could target from that lineup is Middlebrooks. Kyle Kendrick pitching in Coors Field gives me nervous sweats every time I think about it, and Fanduel players tonight are  going to want a piece of that action. The former Red Sox player is currently on a seven game hitting streak, and I’m positive that he will push his streak to eight games tonight. Middlebrooks is usually slotted 5th in that revitalized Padres lineup, behind names like Wil Myers, Matt Kemp, and Justin Upton which is reassuring for fantasy-relevant production. Regardless of what Padre or Padres you own tonight, enjoy the fireworks courtesy of Kyle Kendrick!
