MLB Fanduel Lineup Advice 5/9

Well I finally came back down to earth yesterday, due to a hectic afternoon and a late release (or lack thereof) of the Marlins lineup. Let’s jump into Saturday’s slate and look at the all-day slate, although I will probably be posting a 7:05 lineup as well on Twitter.

Pitchers

Madison Bumgarner, SF – $10,100

Kershaw is still a decent option on Saturday and will probably be substantially owned in cash games (15-20%), but I would recommend fading him this time around. He has a tough matchup in notorious Coors Field going up against one of the best lineups in baseball in the Colorado Rockies. The safer ace to play today is definitely MadBum. Even with the return of Yelich, the Marlins lineup doesn’t scare me all that much (at this point in the season) and they pose a great matchup for Bumgarner. Plus he is playing in the spacious and pitcher-friendly AT&T Park, which certainly doesn’t hurt.

Jon Niese, NYM – $8,100

If you’re looking to go for the cheaper route at pitcher to have a premium hitter stack, look no further than Mets southpaw Jonathan Niese going up against the hapless Phillies. First and foremost, Niese gets to pitch in Citizens Bank Park which will help keep the ball in the yard and “pad his stats” so to speak. Even though Harvey had a stinker against Philadelphia on Friday, Niese wins the platoon matchup with some of the Phillies more prominent hitters so I think he is a safe play for your lineups.

Other options: Tyson Ross (SD), Chase Whitley (NYY), Kyle Lohse (MIL)

Hitters

Kurt Suzuki, C, MIN – $2,200

The Twins are going up against veteran lefty Bruce Chen on Saturday, and I love the full-on stack. But if you had to choose one hitter from this lineup to include in yours, it would have to be Kurt Suzuki. He has traditionally hit left-handed pitching much better in his career, and will get a great opportunity to improve upon his numbers against weak opposition on Saturday. At the minimum price, Suzuki is an absolute no brainer for all lineups tomorrow, just make sure that he is in the lineup.

Mike Trout, OF, LAA – $5,400

Something’s gotta give at some point soon with Keuchel, right? I think tomorrow could be the outing for the lefty ace of the Astros to bring him back down to earth, and Trout is going to be at the middle of this presumed offensive output for the Angels. The Los Angeles center fielder looks to be rejuvenated in the speed department this year, and that adds to his already tantalizing fantasy appeal. If you can squeak him into your lineup, you’re not going to want to miss out on Trout on Saturday.
