NBA Fanduel Lineup and Advice 3/6/15

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/6/15
NBA Games for 3/6/15

Hope everyone enjoyed the 2 games slate yesterday, because the NBA is coming back today with a huge slate again. Wednesday night was one of the highest scoring nights I’ve ever seen on Fanduel. I had 2 lineups go over 300, and I only cashed $5!

It’s a very similar slate tonight with a ton of big name players, and a lot of value to be had. Friday night is going to be fun. I’m going to debut my “Punts” segment tonight since there will be plenty to choose from. A “Punt”, in case your new to DFS, is a minimum or near minimum salary guy, that for one reason or another could have a decent game.

What a punt does, it allows you to spend more elsewhere, and a Punt only needs to get you 16 Fanduel Points to reach value, though you hope to get 20+. So they are similar to my Dunks, only cheaper, and have no real consistent production. They will also have low ownership, which is a big thing when playing a large GPP. You only want to play a Punt in GPP’s, as they are to risky in a cash game.

I’ll also debut my “Things You Should Know, but Don’t” segment. Basically it’ll be little tidbits of statically information that I discovered while doing my research. Like “Pau Gasol has averaged 38 points versus the Wizards, whom he plays tonight” that isn’t a real stat, but you get the point. So let’s kick it off with the Top Ten.

Check out today’s Cost Versus Value Chart:

NBA Fanduel CVP Chart 3/6/15

Tonight’s Top Ten Plays

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/6/15
John Wall

10) PG John Wall $9100 As I pointed out the other night, on paper the Heat look like a tough matchup for points guards. A little deeper digging though revealed they are much worse with Dragic starting. Chalmers and Norris Cole, before the trade, are good defensive players. Dragic is not. Jermey Lin had a big game versus them the other night, Wall should eat them up.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/6/15
Draymond Green

9) SF Draymond Green $8300 Green has been playing extremely well lately, scoring 38 or more points four times in his last 5 games, with his most recent game going for a shade under 56. Dallas shows well on paper versus Small Forward and Power Forward, the 2 positions Green plays, but Green isn’t typical. He is to big for most small forwards to guard him, and he is too quick and has 3 point range when being guarded by a power forward. I’m expecting 35-40 from him tonight, especially with the old guys in Dallas playing on a back to back.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/6/15
Victor Oladipo

8) SG Victor Oladipo $7200 With Fournier out and Tobias Harris playing a little hurt, Oladipo put up 46 Fanduel Points last game. The situation tonight should be very similar, and he gets the Kings, whom are dead last in defense versus the shooting guard position. He might not get 46 tonight, but 35-40 is viable.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/6/15
Tyreke Evans

7) PG Tyreke Evans $8300 I’m curious to what is going to happen when/if Jru Holiday returns? Tyreke, though not a traditional point guard, has been getting it done for the Pels. I thought having Anthony Davis back might hurt his value, but he scored 37 Fanduel Points with Davis in the lineup. The Celtics aren’t a bad matchup either.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/6/15
Greg Monroe

6) PF Greg Monroe $8000 His last 2 games haven’t been great, but they were decent games versus 2 teams with good interior defense. Houston without Howard are a bad interior defensive team. Neither Terrence Jones, Josh Smith, or Monty will be able handle him. The Rockets are 5th worse overall versus the power forward position, and give up the 3rd most rebounds to power forwards. Queue up a double double.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/6/15
James Harden

5) SG James Harden $11000 Harden kicks off a very expensive Top 5, as every member of the Top 5 are over 10K. The Pistons actually play well versus the shooting guard position, but it’s James Harden, and very few teams have been able to shut him down.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/6/15
Lebron James

4) SF LeBron James $11200 James takes his Cavs into Atlanta in what could be a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals, which is why I have James here at 4. Atlanta is middle of the pack when it comes to defending small forwards, but James will be looking to make a statement. The last time he had a chance to make a statement, he missed 2 huge free throws versus the Rockets and lost them the game. Yes, I know he has played a games since then, scoring 54 Fanduel Points versus the Raptors, but this is a Hawks team that everyone is now picking to win the East. James will want to make them rethink that.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/6/15
Steph Curry

3) PG Steph Curry $10100 I had him on my Pass list last night, and it ended up being a good call. That makes it 2 straight games for him under 40 Fanduel Points. That ends tonight. Dallas will be coming in to Golden State having just played the Trailblazers last night, there is no way they will be able to keep pace with the Warriors. Curry could very well have a triple double tonight, I’m expecting 50+.

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/6/15
DeMarcus Cousins

2) C DeMarcus Cousins $10600 Coming off a bad game versus San Antonio, he gets to redeem himself versus a Magic team that is not very good versus the center position. They have been playing statistically better recently, but on the year they are the 6th worst team. Both Al’s, Jefferson and Horford, each had 40+ games against them in their last 3 games. Boogie is going to be eating good tonight, he is a shoe-in for 50+.

1) SG Russell Westbrook Sorry, force of habit..

NBA Fanduel Lineup 3/6/15
Anthony Davis

1) PF Anthony Davis $11200 Davis put up 78 Fanduel Points last time out. Nearly had a trip dub with 8 blocks! Boston Celtics are a good matchup even though they are currently middle of the pack, in terms of defense versus position, but they haven’t seen anything like Anthony Davis. As a matter of fact, none of us have. Dude’s 21! Let that sink in for a minute. Ok, now go get him in your lineup!

Dunks of the Night

  • PG Elfrid Payton $5700 Anytime you can get a guy that gets 33 Fanduel points when only scoring 9 actual real live points, that says something. That’s what Payton did last time out. I’ve called him the poor man’s Ricky Rubio. The icing on the cake is the matchup versus the worst defense in the league in terms of guarding the point guard.
  • PG Tony Parker $5500 A little risky play, but could be worth the upside at that price. They are going against a Denver team that has typically been bad against the point position. They have been playing better of late, but at $5500, Tony could be a sneaky GPP play.
  • PG Jeremy Lin $5400 I’ve pointed out a few times that Memphis is bad versus the point guard position. Unfortunately the last time I recommended a point guard versus Memphis, Trey Burke, he let me down in a big way. I still expect Lin to have a good game, and you can’t beat that price for his recent production.
  • SG Rodney Stuckey $5300 He had a bit of an off game versus New York the other night, but he still reached his baseline for his salary. The matchup with Chicago is a good one since Butler went down. Has 30 point upside at a great salary.
  • SF Gerald Henderson $5600 Henderson didn’t start very well the other night, but he managed to  salvage it, ending with 26 Fanduel Points. The Raptors are dead last versus the small forward position over a 3 week span. The pace in which the Raptors play will increase the amount of possessions for each team, giving Henderson plenty of opportunities.
  • SF Jae Crowder $4900 The Pelicans are actually a tough matchup, but so was Utah, and he got you just under 28 last game. I expect similar.
  • PF Nikola Mirotic $4500 With games of 32, 39, and most recently 40 over his last 3 , this will be the last time you’ll be able to get him at a sub 5k price tag. Get him while he is hot.
  • C Marcin Gortat $5500 People assume that the Heat have Whiteside, so they must be good at defending the center position right? Wrong. Whiteside is great at blocking shots as a help defender, but if you look at the numbers, the Heat are middle of the pack versus center over the a last 3 weeks, and are bottom 10 over the last week. Gortat can also get Whiteside into foul trouble, which, as we know, he is prone to do.
  • C Alex Len $5000 I know, I know, he burned me too the other night. I’m chalking that up to just one bad night, he should rebound, pun intended, tonight versus the Nets. Nets are the second worst team versus the center position, and Len should be motivated to redeem himself after getting thrown out of one game, and not really showing up to another.

Passes of the Night

  • PG Ty Lawson $7500 Um, dude didn’t even score versus the Wolves? No Thanks.
  • PG Kyrie Irving $7500 Atlanta is a top defensive team, and play the point guard position particularly well. That’s not to say Irving will have a bad game, there are just better choices.
  • SG Eric Bledsoe $8900 I think it’s well documented that I don’t trust his up and down nature. He could get you 60…. or 16.
  • SG Monta Ellis $6700 I have a rule of thumb when it comes to shooting guards versus Golden State. Don’t do it. Shooting Guards in this league are the “pick and roll” and “iso” darlings of the NBA. Golden State counters that by switching everything, even if that means Draymond Green ends up on the switch. Everyone wishes they had the personnel to pull that off, Golden State does.
  • SG Luol Deng $6200 I’m still upset over that 6 point outing. Eight turnovers? Really?
  • PF Tim Duncan $7300 This game will go one of two ways. Denver will push the pace and Duncan will struggle to keep up, or the more likely scenario, Spurs will slow it down, Duncan will dominate for 2 and a half quarters, then he’ll sit because it’ll be a blow out. Either way, you don’t want him.

Punts of the Night

*GPP Only

  • PG Shaun Livingston $3900 A point guard punt on a team that has Steph Curry? Yep. Look at his game log, he has had 20, 25, and 27 minutes in his last 3 games, increasing his point totals each time.
  • SF Mike Dunleavy $3900 Broke out of his slump versus the Thunder and played 38 minutes.
  • SF Terrence Ross $3600 This one is a super punt, but his minutes have gotten a bit of an uptick, but so far his production hasn’t,  but this could be the night? Or not….
  • PF Trevor Booker $3700 Has a 25 and 23 point game over his last 3, and has a great matchup versus Philly.
  • PG E’Twaun Moore $3500 Had his coming out party last night versus the Thunder, let’s hope he isn’t a one hit wonder.

I’ll be releasing my “Things You Should Know, But Don’t” segment later today. I still have some research to do to put it all together. Check back later today.

Things You Should Know, but Probably Don’t

  • Steph Curry – In 2 games versus Dallas this year, Curry is averaging 54 Fanduel points a game.
  • The Bulls are dead last in defense versus the point guard position over the last 3 weeks, and are a full 3 points worse on a 48 min/game average then the number 2 team, the Suns.
  • Pistons are dead last versus the power forward position over the last 3 weeks, and just gave up 78 to Anthony Davis. Josh Smith and (GTD)Terrance Jones are good plays, and Monty is a good punt play, especially if Jones is out.
  • In 2 games this year between the Bull and Pacers, neither team has eclipsed the 100 point mark. In those 2 games Gasol has only averaged 29 Fanduel points.
  • Eric Bledsoe- In his only games versus the Nets this year, a high scoring affair(112-104) Bledsoe only had 15 Fanduel points, took only 5 shots, and had 7 turnovers.
  • Hassan Whiteside – Has 2 games versus the Wizards this year, but only one in which he was given respectable minutes. Only scored 19 Fanduel points versus them. Buyer beware.
  • Derrick Favors – In his only game versus the 76er’s this year, he scored 51.5 Fanduel points, which included 15 rebounds.
  • Kawhi Leonard- In 2 games versus the Nuggets, he has averaged 49 Fanduel points, and neither game was a blow out.
  • “Mike Conely – In 3 games versus the Lakers he has averaged 35.9 Fanduel points. Low of 30.7 and high of 43.7. Good Cash play. – Dennis AKA Infantryboy Avid DFS player”
