NFL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK

Ok, so this has to be one of the toughest lineups to set up. For one, the players left in the playoffs are obviously top tier players, and with top tier comes expense. Of the 4 QBs left, 4 of them are over 9k, and the one that isn’t, Wilson, is $8,900. So going cheap at QB to get stronger skill positions can’t be done this week. So here is my lineup for Sunday’s games.

– So with the QB you can’t go wrong with any one of the 4 QBs, so you have to split hairs. I went with Wilson because with his rushing numbers, and his chances of getting a rushing TD, I feel he has the lowest floor. The other 3 guys have higher ceilings, but potential to put up duds. The Patriots could decide that the best way to attack Indy is to run the ball, and Brady ends up throwing 18 times. Rodgers could leave this game early with the calf injury, or play hurt and not be effective, not to mention he is going against the Seahawks defense in Seattle. And with Luck, it’s a lite more complicated. TY Hilton is far and away his best receiver. The drop off from him to the number 2 receiver on the team is huge. A bigger drop off then any of the other teams receivers. So guess who will be following Hilton around all day? That’s right Mr. Island himself. So that’s the long winded way to say I’m going with Wilson.
– So the running back position was one of the easier choices. There are 2 backs that are far and away the best 2 backs left. Lynch and Lacey. I went Lacey purely on the fact that his price fit with the other guys I chose. Basically meaning I couldn’t afford Lynch without severely sacrificing another skill player. I mean as it is I have no #1 WR’s in my lineup. So Lacey it is. And Herron, relativity speaking, is inexpensive and will get the lions share of the carries. I avoided all patriots backs because you never know what they are going to do.
– So on to WRs. Probably the toughest choices to make. Plenty of big names WRs, but they have bad match ups. Jordy and Cobb vs the Legion. Hilton vs Revis. So I went with the secondary options for the 3 teams that like to throw a lot. I avoided any WR from the Seahawks. All 3 players have had big games at some point in the year. Adams having his just last week. But having to spend so high on QB and at Rb, it doesn’t leave much for WR.
– The tight end position was easy. Gronk is so far above all the other remaining TEs, it’s a no brainier to start him. I did think about downgrading to Fleener, and upgrading my WRs, but ultimately decided Gronk is the closest thing to a sure thing as there is, so I went with him.
– I almost always go with the cheapest kicker. It’s too hard to predict FG’s, so in this case Crosby was the cheapest.
– And finally at defense. I went GB for one reason. Of the 4 offenses left, Seahawks have the worst one. It’s not bad by any means, but compared to the other teams, they are. Even if the Seahawks win this game, there is a good chance they do it without doing much on offense, so GB’s D could still be good.

Well, that’s it for my first installment. Please comment and tell me what you think. NBA lineups will be coming in next few days or so, but I thought I’d start with the NFL. Good Luck!
