Swing for the Fences: DFS Home Run Predictions (June 27)

Yet another three home run day on Friday for my Swing for the Fences recommendations, including a 40+ point day from Wil Myers. Tonight’s slate features another Coors Field game to get some exposure to.

So with that here is who will be swinging for the fences today…

C – Brian McCann (NYY) – McCann will look to take advantage of the short porch in right field at home tonight where he has a .205 ISO against righties this season and a .285 last season. He will face Rangers’ righty Chi Chi Gonzalez making his first big league start this season.

1B – Anthony Rizzo (CHC) – Rizzo has been hot lately riding a seven-game hitting streak batting .522 with three doubles and two homers. He will face righty Dan Straily and the weak Reds bullpen in Cincinnati.

2B – Rougned Odor (TEX) – Odor has hit 10 of his 13 homers against righties this season with a .216 ISO. He will face Yankees righty Ivan Nova who has allowed at least one home run in each of his nine starts this season.

SS – Addison Russell (CHC) – Russell squares off against Dan Straily tonight who has allowed 1.12 HR/9 to righties in his career and a Reds’ bullpen that has allowed a league-worst 1.92 HR/9.

3B – Nolan Arenado (COL) – Arenado will face Marco Estrada tonight who has a 49.8% fly ball rate this season and will be pitching in Coors Field. Look for Arenado to try to take over the major league lead in homers tonight.

OF – Nomar Mazara (TEX) – Odor is another Rangers’ left-handed hitter who crushes righties with 10 of his 11 homers this season against them for a .189 ISO. He will face righty Ivan Nova who has allowed 2.05 HR/9 to lefties this season.

OF – Carlos Gonzalez (COL) – Gonzalez has a .344 ISO at home against righties this season and will be facing righty Marco Estrada who has given up 1.15 HR/9 to lefties this season.

OF – Ezequiel Carrera (TOR) – Carrera continues to bat leadoff for the Blue Jays and will get an opportunity to hit at Coors Field tonight. Carrera has flashed some power recently with two homers over his last eight games.

Longshot – Adam Duvall (CIN) It isn’t often you can get one of the league leaders in home runs for just $2,200 on FanDuel. Yes, he has a tough matchup against the Cubs’ Jake Arrieta but if someone can take him deep, Duvall has a chance with a .349 ISO against righties this season.

The GoingFor2 Live Podcast

Brad Richter

Growing up, I was always intrigued with stats, from the back of baseball, football and basketball cards to playing dice rolling simulation games, while tracking the stats for the players on my team. My fantasy sports obsession began in college running fantasy football leagues with friends and has expanded into playing in both fantasy baseball and fantasy basketball leagues, and most recently Daily Fantasy Sports. I consider myself a “stats guy” by nature and lean on data to back up my advice and analysis of strategy techniques and player evaluations. That said, I have also always felt that sometimes you must go with a gut instinct based on things you have seen watching players play, even when the numbers don’t back it up. I feel that it is this mix of analysis that leads to the most successful formula when competing in fantasy sports.
