Julio Teheran (DK – $7700, FD – $7700) – The Padres-Braves game has the lowest total on the day with 7 runs (along with a couple other games) and Teheran is only a small underdog. He’s got a decent matchup against a Padres team with a 91 wRC+, 0.297 wOBA, and a 21.5% strikeout rate vs. RHP.
Shaun Marcum (DK – $4500, FD – $6400) – The Indians pitchers (Kluber and Bauer) have burned many people over the last two days against the Mariners, but the matchup can’t be ignored at this cheap of a price. The Mariners are bottom five on the day in wOBA (0.293), wRC+ (90), and strikeout rate (23.3%). Marcum has pitched better than his price suggests, with a 3.83 SIERA and 23.6% strikeout rate in his five starts for the Indians. It won’t take much to pay off this price tag.
Top Hitting Options
Giancarlo Stanton– OF (DK – $5800, FD – $5300) – Stanton is the highest price pitcher on the day, but with good reason, as I have him as my highest rated hitter today. The Marlins face Chris Rusin and the Rockies. Rusin has pitched decently well in his few starts this year, but Stanton owns 0.462 wOBA and insane 0.537 ISO vs. LHP. You’ll have the money, so spend up on Stanton.
Josh Reddick (DK – $3800, FD – $3200) – Reddick and the other Athletics are always in play against a weak righty and his price is very reasonable. Chi Chi Gonzalez has struggled since getting to the big leagues with a 5.89 SIERA and should continue to struggle today. You don’t have to go too cheap with hitters today with pitching so bleak, but Reddick provides some nice flexibility with upside as well.
