Top Pitching Options
Jimmy Nelson (DK – $6600, FD – $7200) – This is easily one of the worst pitching days we’ve seen in quite a while, making it much more of a GPP day than cash game day. With no strong pithers on the day, its best to look for decent pitchers in good spots and Nelson fits that bill. Nelson has a decent 4.02 SIERA and 19.6% strikeout rate and gets a great matchup against the Phillies and their 0.278 wOBA (30th), 73 wRC+ (30th) and 19.0% strikeout rate (10th) vs. RHP. Nelson is also a -155 favorite, making him one of the top pitching options on the day.
Cody Anderson (DK – $5700, FD – $6100) – Like most pitchers today, Anderson is more of a GPP play than cash games as he’s making his second career start. He has good stuff though and pitched 7.2 innings and allowed no runs against the Rays and gets them again, this time in pitcher friendly Tropicana Field. The Rays aren’t strong against RHP with a 0.302 wOBA (21st), 96 wRC+ (16th), and 21.3% strikeout rate (24th). At his price, there’s plenty of upside.
Top Hitters
Ryan Braun (DK – $4800, FD – $4500) – Braun has a 0.344 wOBA and 0.218 ISO on the year and hit his 15th HR yesterday. Today he gets Sean O’Sullivan and his 4.99 SIERA and 0.317 wOBA vs. RHH. Although he’s been hit much harder by LHH, Braun is a strong enough hitter that he should do some damage. He’s one of the top bats on the day.
Sin-Soo Choo (DK – $3500, FD – $2400) – All of the Rangers lefties are in play against Bud Norris but Choo might be the best bang for your buck at only $3500 on DK and dirt cheap at $2400 on FD. Norris has a 4.56 SIERA and allows a 0.410 wOBA to LHH. Choo has a 0.368 wOBA and 0.199 ISO vs. RHP. Hitting leadoff in a great matchup in a great hitter park at a cheap price, Choo is a no brainer.
