Draftkings and Fanduel MLB Lineup Advice 7/23/15 by RotoTrick

Top Pitching Values

Clayton Kershaw (DK – $14500, FD – $13000) – Your SP1 options should begin and end with Kershaw, because he’s the best pitcher in the game (yes, still better than Scherzer, Sale, and Grienke) and has an elite matchup. The Mets have a 0.292 wOBA (27th) and 23.6% strikeout rate (27th) against LHP and are in desperate need of a bat at the trade deadline, but aren’t getting it yet. Kershaw has been just as dominant this year as last, with a 2.09 SIERA and 33.7% strikeout rate, both the best in baseball. He’s by far the biggest favorite at -205 and despite his hefty price tag, should be in your lineup if you can fit him in.

Tyson Ross (DK – $9100, FD – $8500) – If your looking to avoid Kershaw’s huge price tag or just looking to differentiate for GPPs, Francisco Liriano and Tyson Ross make nice options and I like Ross a bit more but to being $1200 cheaper. Ross has a 3.39 SIERA and 24.9% strikeout rate. His opponent, the Marlins, are without their top two bats in Stanton and Gordon, and even with them sport a 0.292 wOBA (26th) and 20.1% strikeout rate (21st) against RHP. As a -160 favorite, Ross makes a nice cash or GPP option.

Mike Fiers (DK – $7700, FD – $8200) – There aren’t many cheap pitching options tonight, making Fiers and his low-to-mid price the best it really gets. Fiers has strong numbers with a 3.78 SIERA and 22.9% strikeout rate. He faces an average Diamondbacks team against RHP (0.313 wOBA – 13th), but they do whiff a decent amount at a 20.4% clip (22nd). Vegas also has him as a slight favorite at -120, making him one of the better plays dollar-for-dollar on the night.

Top Hitter Values

Gerardo Parra OF (DK – $3800, FD – $3600) – To fit in Kershaw and/or Liriano and Ross, you’ll need some cheap bats so I’ll keep them all under $4,000 (DK). Parra remains a great option at this price point and faces a relief pitcher making a start in Zack Godley in hitter friendly Chase Field. Parra has a 0.371 wOBA and 0.200 ISO against RHP and should continue his hot play in this one.

Evan Gattis 1B / C (DK – $3500, FD – $3300) – At only $3500 for a first baseman in a good matchup, Gattis makes a great play. Gattis gets the platoon advantage against Wade Miley, who allowed a 0.335 wOBA and 8 of his 9 allowed HRs to RHH. Dollar-for-dollar, Gattis might be the top 1B option.

Top Value Plays

David Murphy OF (DK – $2400, FD – $2200) – Murphy is a cheap outfield play that will likely hit in the heart of the Indians lineup (4th or 5th) as they face a righty in Jeff Samardzija. Murphy has a 0.307 BA, 0.348 wOBA, and 0.145 ISO against RHP and should be able to get on base and reach value in this mathup.
