Top Pitching Options

Clayton Kershaw (DK – $12900, FD – $12300) – It’s another night with several top aces, but many of them face off against each other and against strong opponents, making Kershaw stand out as the clear top option. The Dodgers take on a Rangers team that does most of its damage from the left side of the plate, giving Kershaw the platoon advantage. The Rangers are also unsurprisingly weaker against lefties, with a below average 96 wRC+ (16th) and 22.4% strikeout rate (21st), along with a 0.314 wOBA (11th) vs. LHP. He’s the biggest favorite at -280 and is the top cash and gpp option.

Carlos Martinez (DK – $8400, FD – $9400) – El Gallo has pitched very well this year and has a great matchup against a Twins team the doesn’t do as well against righties. Martinez has put up a 3.40 SIERA, 1.26 WHIP, and strong 25.9% strikeout rate on the year. The Twins have a 0.291 wOBA (29th), 84 wRC+ (27th), and 21.1% strikeout rate (24th) vs. RHP. Martinez is only a -137 favorite, but makes a solid cash game play.

Ubaldo Jimenez (DK – $7200, FD – $8100) – If you’re looking to dig down cheaper at pitcher for tournaments or for your SP2, Jimenez is also in a great spot and has pitched well of late. On the year, Jimenez has a solid 3.54 SIERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 23.1% strikeout rate. The Orioles face a lowly Phillies team that has a 60 wRC+ (30th), 0.272 wOBA (30th), and 19.5% strikeout rate (10th) vs. RHP. Getting a -170 favorite close to $7000 on Draftkings is usually a nice deal and this is no different.

Top Hitting Options

Starling Marte – OF (DK – 5200, FD – $4000) – Marte has just dominanted LHP this year and gets another weak one in John Danks today. Marte has posted a ridiculous 0.504 wOBA and 0.436 ISO vs. LHP. The bat, he’s on a hot streak putting up a 0.430 wOBA and 178 wRC+ in the last 14 days. His salary has finally gone above $5000, but he’s still worth the price.

A.J. Pollock (DK – $4400, FD – $4400) – Getting lost in the shuffle of how dominant Paul Goldschmidt has been against lefties is the fact that A.J. Pollock has also been one of the best hitters in baseball against lefties, with a 0.431 wOBA and 0.182 ISO. Over the last 14 days, he’s also put up a 0.402 wOBA and 0.250 ISO. Against a weak lefty in Hector Santiago, who has a 4.20 SIERA and allows a 0.322 wOBA to RHH. At a very playable $4400 on Draftkings, Pollock makes a nice play.

Luis Valbuena 2B/3B (DK – 4000, FD – $3300) – The Astros take the trip to Coors and their prices haven’t jumped too significantly, as Valbuena is only up a few hundred bucks. Kyle Kendrick has struggled against lefties this year, allowing a 0.417 wOBA and 0.573 SLG. Valbuena has provided power for the Astros this year with 14 HRs and put up a 0.341 wOBA and 0.279 ISO vs. RHP. At this price Valbuena makes a great play at 2B.
