[wysija_form id=”1″]1.J.J. Watt-DE- Houston
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to see J.J Watt standing at the top of this list. He basically does it all, sacks, tackles, Forcing and recovering fumbles, he does it all. The Texans will have a problematic offense once again this year, so you can expect to see him on the field plenty in 2015, he may even catch a TD pass or two.
2.Lavonte David-LB- Tampa bay
Lavonte David is another guy that will be spending a lot of time on the field in 2015. He is the most talented LB in the league. Lovie Smith is a good defensive mind and has a proven track record with the position.
David finished up the 2014 season, with an insane 146 tackles. Truth be told, he may be the number one IDP Scorer, but, the difference between J.J Watt and the next DL player, is far greater than that of David and the next LB. so I place slightly more value on what Watt brings to the team.
You could take Lavonte David first aswell and be just fine.
3. Luke Kuechly-LB-Carolina
Luke Kuechly is the pulse of the Panthers defense. I’m not expecting them to have a terribly good offense so he should see plenty of time on the field. He finished up last season with 153 tackles, 3 sacks and 1 INT.
Those are the type of numbers that can get you the number 1 overall spot as an IDP player. However, the Panthers offense will be a little better, so we could expect a slight drop in tackles with a little less time on the field.
4. C.J Mosley-LB-Bal
Playing on the Baltimore defense this year could mean a lot of time spent on the field. He exploded onto the scene last year, putting together a pro bowl effort.
Finishing up the year with 133 tackles, 3 sacks and 1 INT, you have to think another year in the NFL will go a long way to making him a better player. Combine that with more time on the field in 2015 and Mosley has a shot at the top spot.
5.Karlos Dansby– LB-CLE
If he didn’t go down with a knee injury in 2014, there is no question in my mind that he could have finished a top 5 defensive scorer. The Browns offense should be worse than it was last year, so time on the field shouldn’t be a problem.
I would expect if he can stay healthy he should finish off the season with about 140 tackles. We will be hard pressed to find a GM in an IDP league who doesn’t want that type of scoring on his team.

6. Paul Posluszny-LB-Car
I believe the Jaguars will have a better year on offense, therefore, Posluszny will be on the field less, which is why he is ranked outside of my top 5.
With that said he is still one of the more talented LBs in the league and you can do a lot worse than Paul Posluszny. I just can’t justify taking him over any of the guys in my top 5, as they are in situations that usually yield high IDP scoring.
7. DeAndre Levy-LB-Det
He had a monster season last year. He finished up with 151 tackles and 2.5 sacks. That was a career year for him. I have him ranked way down at 7, after such a monster year, because, I don’t believe he can match last years numbers. As we know, one of the biggest mistakes GMs make is chasing last seasons numbers. Chasing last year’s points is a known losing strategy.
If you can get him as the 6th LB off the board, you can still find nice value in him.
8. Derrick Johnson-LB-KC
You find Derrick Johnson way down here simply because, I have concerns about how he will recover from the ruptured Achilles that ended his season. The bottom line here is, DJ is very talented, more talented than a few players I have ahead of him, but he is coming off a serious injury and it will likely take time for him to get back to his highest level of play.
The Kansas City Chiefs aren’t going to have a power house O that holds the ball for 35 minutes a game. He will still get time on the field and a chance to make an impact. For him it is all about how he recovers from his injury.
9. Harrison Smith-DB-Minnesota
He is a solid choice and in my opinion, the number 1 CB off the board in IDP drafts. He gets thrown at a lot and is one of the better tackling corners in the league.
Minnesota also likes to send him in on the blitz, so you can expect a few sacks from him as well. I would expect him to finish the 2015 season with 75 tackles, 5 INTS and 3 sacks. I will take that for a cornerback in any of my IDP leagues.
10. Alec Ogletree-LB-Stl
This kid is a star in the making, I’m expecting him to post the best year of his young career this year. As usual the Rams didn’t make many upgrades to the offense, outside of trading for Foles and drafting Gurley. I would expect to see him spending a lot of time on the field.
He should definitely build on his 111 tackles this season. I see him somewhere in the range of 135. He is a young talent with lots of upside, I’m willing to take the chance on him.
